Industry 4.0 is the process of digitalization of industry, in which digital technologies such as the Internet of things, cloud computing, big data analysis, augmented reality, 3D printing or collaborative robotics will change the way industry operates. We can compare this process with the digitalization of society, where smart phones and the social networks have fostered a change in the dynamics of how things operate.
The digitalization of industry is a two-way process. In one direction, it allows us to obtain information from the production processes or from products already manufactured using sensors, the Internet of things and data analysis, thus increasing productivity and improving products.
And in the other direction, products can be obtained through 3D printing, or information or learning services can be created using augmented reality processes or by improving decision-making thanks to simulation of scenarios.
